The Spirit of Chicago

We were given a gift card for brunch. We arrived early and were on board and seated quickly. Our waiter appeared immediately and took our drink order. Since the food was out, we decided to eat. I thought there would be more choices (no fruit, not many meat choices). Didn't like the omlette, the bacon was delicious, the chicken was dry and not hot, the short ribs with the mashed potatoes was delicious. The desserts were delicious. We had a beautiful day so as soon as we were done eating we went outside to enjoy the weather and the view.

WE LOVED THE CRUISE. AS SOON AS YOU GOT ON THE SHIP YOU WERE SEATED AT YOUR TABLE AND THE WAITRESS CAME RIGHT UP AND TOOK OUR DRINK ORDER. SINCE WE WERE ONE OF THE FIRST ON THE SHIP WE ONLY HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 5 OR 10 MINUTES TO GO TO THE BUFFET TABLE. THE FOOD WAS GREAT AND EVERYONE THAT WORKED THERE WAS VERY NICE. IT WAS FOR OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY AND IT REALLY WAS GREAT.

Spirit of Chicago Cruise

The ship was very clean and the staff very professional and helpful. The dj played good music, but he did a lot of karoake. Hearing other people sing that didn't have very good voices really wasn't something we enjoyed hearing for our special cruise. The interactive dancing was ok. The food was pretty good, but I will have to agree with the other review about the deserts. You could tell they had been frozen and were not that good. The day was beautiful and all in all we very much enjoyed the cruise.

The ship is well maintained, attractive and clean. The staff is professional and helpful. There was a dj who paid good music and some of the wait staff sang reasonably well. We had a great time on deck because the day was beautiful and Lake Michigan and the City of Chicago skyline on a pretty day can't be beat for scenery. If the day had been rainy or cold and we had to stay inside the ship, we probably wouldn't have enjoyed the experience as much. The food was average, except for the beef dish which was horrible (dry and tough). The desserts tasted commercially produced, rather than from a bakery. If you're coming for the food, don't.

Mother's Day Cruise

My wife, son and I really enjoyed the cruise. The service was excellent and the food very good. The only 'downer' was paying $10.50 for a Bloody Mary ... and a mediocre one at that! I will definitely recommend this cruise to my friends, but warn them not to buy any drinks that aren't already included in the package.

Question: Is the ship wheelchair accessible?

Answer: Yes, the first deck is ADA compliant and the restrooms can handle most standard sized wheelchairs. Some of the upper decks may not be accessible. Please let us know when requesting your reservation if someone in your party requires assistance so they can be sure to seat them on the main deck.

Question: What is the boarding procedures like?

Answer: You will be subject to a search. In order to expedite the boarding process they ask that you do not bring any unnecessary bags on board and please make sure that all gifts are in gift bags or unwrapped for easy screening.

Question: My partner is gluten-free. Will they be able to accommodate him?

Answer: While gluten and allergy free products are offered, and gluten sensitive items are on the menu, they openly handle several allergens throughout their galleys. And while they take precautions to keep ingredients separate, they cannot guarantee a gluten free environment. They do not have separate prep surfaces, cook tops or equipment.

Question: Is there any parking nearby?

Answer: There is paid parking at the Navy Pier Garages. The cruise recommends you arrive early if driving as the garage does tend to fill up, especially on the weekends. If the lot is full there is another paid parking lot down the street. Parking in Chicago can be expensive so you may want to make other transportation arrangements if possible.

Question: What happens if it rains?

Answer: The cabins are fully enclosed and climate controlled so the cruise will run rain or shine. In rare cases of extreme weather that the Coast Guard will not allow the ship to sail in the Harbor, dinner will be held dockside.

Question: Do I need to wear formal attire to the Chicago Brunch Cruise for two?

Answer: The brunch cruise is much more relaxed. Casual attire is fine.
