Learn how to cook delicious meals and pair wines with the food during this three-hour hands-on DC Cooking Class. Appetizing, fresh and healthy foods from a wide range of cultures including Moroccan, Spanish, Chinese, Italian and more are on the menu for this culinary class.
You will learn to prepare a full meal or a series of small plates, with the help of experienced culinary educators, Jinny and Ed Fleischman. Observe as your instructors demonstrate and later, get to cook along with them. After the mouthwatering meal is prepared—it’s time to eat! You and your fellow culinary students will sit at a long dining table where you will all enjoy the meal you have created together.
Following your meal, you will receive the recipe along with suggestions which highlight "cook ahead" possibilities, notes for any special equipment necessary, and advice regarding the ingredients you'll need to prepare the meal. With this cooking class, you will have all that you need to create a scrumptious meal for family and friends as well as an appreciation for new flavors - a great gift for any foodie in your life.
What to wear
The Fleischman's have been featured in the "Washington Post" in the Food Section, "Harper's Bazaar", "Washington Home & Gardens", and many more.
Price includes professional instruction, a multi-course meal, recipes, beverages and wine. You may bring your own a bottle of wine or beers to accompany your meal.
Classes are held within walking distance of the Cleveland Park Metro stop.

Ed and Jinny do a great job and it's well worth the $. Excellent wine selections to pair with the foods and good company. They have a good way of involving all the guests in the meal preparation and everyone will learn something new. I would recommend this class to anyone who enjoys good food and drink.

We had a really great time! I enjoyed it from the very first minute to the last. We were made to feel comfortable and right at home. The Fleischman's are delightful. The only negative (and I don't know if I'd call it that) was the parking. However, that is no bearing on the experience. We are planning to attend again in the summer! Thanks!

My husband just came home from his cooking class experience. I gave it to him as a Christmas gift and he has been excited beyond belief to go. He reported that he really enjoyed visiting with the other students in the class and that the meal was good. But, he did have two valid concerns that I wanted to share, especially because I chose the class with certain expectations and the concerns are related to two of those expectations. First, the description states that there will be 6 or 7 others in the class, but his class had 19 people present. That's way more than expected. Also, either due to the large group or simply a fault of the course, there was little instruction provided in the way of technical food preparation and cooking advice. Because my husband is a foodie, I thought he'd get a kick out of receiving cooking instructions, but there was very little provided. He thought it was a very fun, but I wanted to share concerns too.

We had a wonderful night with great hosts and other 'students'. We received some great pointers to aid with meal preparation. The 4 course meal would be easy to reproduce in our own home. At the end of the evening, we were given clear instructions on how to recreate the menu at home.

My partner and I took a class in this gorgeous, charming home owned by a very sweet couple. I felt like we were cooking with family and enjoyed the enchanting outdoor dinning area. The food was superb and easy to make! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

I would like for the Fleischman's to know that Jymil and I had a wonderful time! The idea to conduct the cooking class in the privacy of their own home gives a very intimate feel, which made mingling with the other guest a breeze. The Celebration Dinner was fabulous and the wine paring was very helpful. It truly inspired me to branch out and allow myself to be more creative with different spices. Question: Could you also confirm whether this class is held in a home or in a professional kitchen? And could you also confirm whether this experience can be tailored to a vegetarian diet?
Answer: Classes take place in the Chef's spacious, fully equipped kitchen home kitchen and all have pre-set menus, most of which include meat.
Question: I am just wondering if this class is offered on the weekends and if so, what time of day? Also, how long of a wait is there to get scheduled for a weekend class?
Answer: Yes, the Cooking Class DC is offered on weekends as well as weekdays and class times vary depending upon the date reserved. All non First Friday classes meet from 7pm until 9:30pm. We recommend making reservations a minimum of two weeks in advance.
