This exciting Hot Air Balloon Ride over the beautiful Delmarva Peninsula begins at sunrise or two hours before sunset, as you help the Pilot and Crew with the inflation of the balloon.

You and the rest of the passengers will climb into the basket along with your Pilot as he finishes preparing for the flight. Once ready, the Balloon will gradually ascend above the tree tops, over a thousand feet into the sky. As you float in the balloon, you will travel peacefully at wind speed for approximately one hour. Along the way you will enjoy a bird's eye view of Maryland's Eastern Shore from the air as you sail through the skies, float over corn fields, nearby rivers and treetops.

Towards the end of your journey, the balloon will begin to descend back down to earth where your ride concludes with a wonderful champagne toast. The 360 degree views of the Chesapeake Bay area make this flight a lifetime an experience gift you will never forget! The Delmarva Balloon Flights are offered seven days a week April thru November, subject to availability. Flights take place at Sunrise seven days a week and two hours before Sunset Monday through Thursday. Flight times will vary upon the time of year the flight is scheduled.

The Delmarva Balloon Rides have a flight time of approximately 1 hour and a total duration of 3 hours.

Weather

The Private Delmarva Balloon Ride Experience depends on favorable weather, and can only fly when the conditions are safe. Flights may be rescheduled by the Pilot due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably, flat rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this open air adventure.

Participation in the Hot Air Balloon Experience is limited to individuals weighing less than 220lbs and less than 6'4" tall. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate. Participants must be able to stand for a minimum of 90 minutes, must be able to climb in and out of the basket and should be at least 10 years of age.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the form prior to participation.

Question: I'm interested in taking my girlfriend on a Hot Air Balloon ride. If I lay out a "Will you marry me?" sign the night before can I ask the pilot to fly over it?

Answer: Unfortunately the pilot cannot guarantee that he will be able to fly over your sign. The balloon is dependent on the wind for direction, and it may not agree with your proposal plans that day. We also recommend you bring a "dummy" ring on the flight. Even the most sparkling diamond is hard to spot from over 1000 feet!
Question: I am thinking about purchasing this for my wife as a bucket-list gift. How does the pilot steer a Hot Air Balloon and where will we land?

Answer: The pilot is depends on wind direction to steer. The wind travels in different directions at different altitudes so by ascending and descending he can change directions. Of course it all depends on the weather on the day of your flight as to where you'll end up, which is all part of the fun!
Question: Is the balloon handicapped accessible?

Answer: Unfortunately no. Passengers must be able to climb into and out of the 4ft high basket. And because you can't always predict where you'll land, you often end up in uneven and/or hilly terrain.
Question: I would like to purchase this for my daughters birthday. How cold does it get up in the air?

Answer: You should dress as you would for any outdoor activity: loose comfortable clothing with sturdy footwear. You may want to bring a light jacket if it's a cool morning. The temperature will be about the same as it is on the ground. And because the balloon moves with the wind, there is virtually no wind chill.
Question: My brother gave my girlfriend and I the Hot Air Ballooning Over Delmarva as a wedding present. We would rather go during the day, why don't they offer noon flights?

Answer: High speed or unstable winds can make flying the balloon dangerous. Winds tend to be lighter during the mornings and evenings when there are no thermals to contend with.

Answer: Yes, the Hot Air Ballooning Over Delmarva is the nearest hot air balloon to Washington DC. Most hot air balloon rides take place miles away from major metro areas for safety purposes. Balloon Pilots are not able to a balloon as they can a plane. Therefore, the must avoid tall buildings and restricted airspace.
