Brian was a great guide - quite enthusiastic and knowledgeable! The tour got us to try foods that we wouldn't have gambled with on our own. Only bummer was driving home on Friday with Columbus Day traffic.

All good!

5 stars

My wife and I had a very memorable introduction to both food cart cuisine and Experience Days when we did the Midtown NYC Food Cart walking Tour. We were led by the very enthusiastic, entertaining and knowledgeable Brian Hoffman who really made the tour. It is clear that Brian genuinely loves his job, and loves food!, and he skilfully shared his insights without overloading us. The quality and range of food was fantastic and we finished the tour well and truly content. I'd highly recommend the tour to anyone, not just NYC visitors. I have a newfound appreciation for food cart cuisine and will return to sample in the future without doubt. Eat on!!!! :)

Food Cart Tour (with Bonus History)

5 stars

Brian led on us on a fantastic tour of the financial district. The food was as varied as it was delicious. We also discovered a lot more about both the food cart business and the history of the financial district than if we had just wandered about by ourselves.

Food Cart Tour

This was a totally fun, informative experience. Brian Hoffman, our tour guide, was the best. Friendly, knowledgable and full of anecdotal info about the early days of street food. The food itself was far more delicious and varied than I'd expected. I've already recommended the tour to friends and family. It was a couple of hours very well spent.

Question: Hello, do you have to pay for all the different foods you sample during this gift or is it all included in the tour??

Answer: The cost of the tastings are included in the price of the tour. Each participant will also receive a bottle of water for the tour. There are typically six stops for tastings, and enough food is offered that, for most, a meal afterwards is not needed. Participants should bring spending money as they will have the opportunity to purchase additional food, beverages, gifts and souvenirs on the tour.Gratuities for your tour guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

Question: I'd like to buy my parents a certificate for the NYC Food Cart Walking Tour but need to know how strenuous the walk is.

Answer: The route is over flat terrain and covers about 1.5 miles over 2 hours. The pace is pretty leisurely. The should be prepared, however, to stand for extended periods of time. The guides will do their best to find some seats during the tour to take a break but they will be standing for most of it.

Question: Is this tour wheelchair accessible?

Answer: The tour takes place on the streets of Manhattan and is fully wheelchair accessible. Let us know in the notes if someone in your party uses a wheelchair so the guide can find the most compatible route.

Question: My sister is a vegetarian. If I get her the Food Cart Tour in NY will she be able to sample everything?

Answer: Nowadays many people have dietary restrictions. Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Kosher etc. Most of the food carts on the tour have adjusted to accommodate those restrictions. While they can't guarantee every stop will have a substitution, most do. When you make a reservation you will be asked about any dietary restrictions or food allergies which we pass along to the tour operator. If they know ahead of time they can usually make sure all of the stops are accommodating.

Question: Will the tour be cancelled for rain?

Answer: The tours are held rain or shine. This is an outdoor tour so be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately for the tour. Bring an umbrella if it calls for rain. If the weather is severe enough, the tour will be cancelled and you will be rescheduled directly by the tour operator.
