Chic restaurants, urban wineries and foodie gems are all in store as your friendly and knowledgeable Guide brings this historic Oakland neighborhood to life.

The fun begins in Jack London Square where you will meet with your Guide and the rest of the group. You will then head out on a gastronomic adventure, making stops at five to six local eateries where you’ll indulge in both sweet and savory delights. Treats range from homemade chicken and waffles, award winning local wines, confections from one of the top pastry shops in the world, Pan-American dishes and more! Throughout the tour you'll also learn about the local architecture, entertainment options and the vibrant art scene of the Jack London Square & Historic Warehouse District.

Dress comfortably. Flat rubber-soled walking shoes are recommended for this culinary adventure.

Tours include about 1½ to 2 miles of walking and 5 to 6 tastings, where you will sample various dishes along the way. For most people, it is more than enough to fill them up for lunch. Stops on the tour may include:Home of Chicken and Waffles, Urban Legend Cellars, Chop Bar, Miette and Bocanova.

Price includes all tastings. Children must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age or older at all times. Participants may bring a bottle of water or non-alcoholic beverage on the tour.

Participants are advised to bring additional spending money as they will have the opportunity to purchase additional food, beverages, gifts and souvenirs on the tour.

Gratuities for your tour guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

Question: How much food is served on the Jack London Square Culinary Tour?

Answer: Enough food is served that for most it will count as a meal. You will not need to go to lunch after the tour.

Question: Is the food tour in Oakland wheelchair accessible?

Answer: Yes. There is some uneven terrain but the guide can offer assistance if needed. Is someone in your party uses a wheelchair be sure to add notes in the comments field.

Question: How much walking is involved? What is the pace like on the tour?

Answer: The tour pace is pretty moderate over about 3 1/2 hours and stops frequently. Be prepared to be on your feet for extended periods of time as not all of the tasting stops have a place to sit down.

Question: Are there any breaks during the tour to give us time to shop?

Answer: Out of respect for the other tour participants, they will ask you to wait until after the tour to do any shopping. If see a shop you like be sure to note the location. Of course you can also ask your guide after the tour if you forget. If you are visiting the area we recommend taking the tour at the beginning of your trip so you will have time to go back and shop if you'd like.

Question: Are there vegetarian options on the tour?

Answer: Yes, the tour can accommodate vegetarians if they know ahead of time. Be sure to add notes in the comments field when redeeming your certificate for a reservation.

Question: Do we only walk around and sample food?

Answer: Not at all. Besides the food tasting your guide will offer insight and interesting facts about the history, architecture and the culture of the bay area.

Question: What happens if it rains on the day of our tour?

Answer: Tours are held rain or shine. Check the weather before the tour and if it's calling for rain be sure to bring an umbrella and/or a raincoat.

Question: Will we be able to use the restrooms at any of the stops?

Answer: Yes at some but not all of the stops. Be sure to ask your guide if you need to go.

Question: Will there be parking available near the start of the tour?

Answer: Yes, there is both public and private parking near the start location. Exact location details will be provided in your confirmation email once your reservation has been confirmed.
