Price for 2 participants
Tour Arizona’s countryside from the comforts of a classic train car as you enjoy a 65 mile journey by train from Williams, Arizona to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Watch the remarkable world go by as you tour the countryside from the comforts of a classic train car. Watch as the terrain changes from high desert to prairie, prairie to pine. It's a view that's ever-changing until you come across a view that changes so dramatically, it could very well change you. Welcome to the Grand Canyon. Along the way, you'll see a variety of plants and trees as you change in elevation along the journey. Leaving Williams, you'll be at over 6,000 feet elevation where you'll be surrounded by forests of Ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, spruce and aspen. During the middle part of the journey, the Upper Sonoran Zone, you'll see Pinyon-Juniper woodlands, sagebrush, grama grass, and a variety of brush like live oak, salt bush and mountain ash. Don’t forget to keep your eyes out for elk, mountain lions, mule-deer, squirrels and even skunks while in the forests. In the high desert, it's common to see pronghorn, which look like antelope. Plus, you'll notice a variety of birds, from bald eagles to horned owls to ravens to California condors. In addition to the changing terrain and beautiful wild life, it’s not uncommon to spot some of the region's natives. Many Native American reservations are in and around Grand Canyon National Park and Northern Arizona. This includes the Navajo, Hopi, Havasupai and Paiute. During the train tour, your enthusiastic crew is bursting with local and Grand Canyon folklore and history, as well as Grand Canyon Railway knowledge. Strolling musicians catch you up with what was hot way back when. And, each morning before the train leaves, be sure to catch the Wild West Shootout. While on-board the train, keep your eyes open - it's been known to be robbed from time to time. Once you arrive at the Grand Canyon you will have three hours to explore, dine and enjoy the magnificent surroundings prior to heading back to Williams, Arizona.
