Outstanding experience

5 stars

This is one of those events I will never forget. In a good way! Ryan was my instructor and he couldn't have been better - competent, enthusiastic and kept it fun. But be careful, you might get the bug! Now I just have to save the funds to get more lessons!

Helicopter Flight

5 stars

I enjoyed the hour of flight. The instructor from Middle River Aviation, Pete Burkart, did a great job providing a balanced sight seeing, as well as instructive session.

First Flight

5 stars

Flying a helicopter always seemed out-of-reach. I had always talked about how great it would be. Boy was that an understatement! First off it was much harder than anticipated and also thrilling. highly rec to anyone. There isn't much harm due to the fact that the instructor could have flown in his sleep.

Great Time in a Helicopter

5 stars

I had a lot of fun flying around. I have no experience in aviation but with the instructor present, I had no cause for concern. I was able to try the controls and I got a feel for navigating around in the helicopter. The whole experience went wonderfully. I would definitely recommend this experience. If I go again I will have to bring sunglasses.

Baltimore Helicopter Lesson

5 stars

This was a surprise for my birthday from my girlfriend. I was very nervous before the flight but the instructor was very knowledgeable and nice. This experience meet and exceeded my expectations. I actually got to fly the helicopter when my nerves settled!

Question: I purchased a helicopter flight lesson in Baltimore for my husband for his birthday. Can I ride along and take pictures?

Answer: The lesson takes place in a 2 seat helicopter so guests cannot ride along. If this is his first lesson he probably wants to have the instructor in the second seat!

Question: I weigh about 240lbs and am planning on going on a diet. If I don't get down to the 225lb weight limit will they turn me away? How close do I need to get?

Answer: They are very strict about the weight limit. You need to weigh 225lbs or less with your clothes on. If it's questionable they may weigh you at the airport.

Question: What is the minimum age to take the Baltimore Helicopter Flying Lesson?

Answer: The minimum age is 14. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a liability release form.

Question: Do I need to have fixed wing experience before I try to learn in a helicopter?

Answer: No, this is a never-ever introductory lesson.

Question: The person I want to give this too has a tendency to get airsick on commercial flights. Should I think twice about buying them a helicopter lesson?

Answer: Actually most people are less likely to get airsick on a helicopter than a fixed-wing aircraft. The helicopter blades create a "gyro" effect that keeps the chopper more stable and less susceptible to turbulence.

Question: Is public transportation available to the airport?

Answer: Marc Train "Penn Line" service is available to and from Martin State Airport from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.. For times and locations please visit: https://mta.maryland.gov/marc-train
