Learn to Fly a Helicopter! Experience the thrill of flying as you take the Controls of a Robinson R22 over beautiful Northern Virginia. Your experience will begin with ground school conducted at the Manassas Regional Airport. Your Certified Flight Instructor will explain how the helicopter flies, what each control does, how to read the gauges, what to look for in conducting the pre-flight inspection and making sure the helicopter is safe to fly.

Next, after the ground instruction is complete, you will take to the air on a 30 minute flight lesson, during which you will take the controls with the help of your flight instructor to see what it is like to pilot the helicopter. You will have the chance to experience most flight conditions, including straight and level flight, climbs, turns and descents, plus the most memorable, hovering. This is an amazing airborne adventure that will you will never forget - the perfect gift for anyone who has dreamed of learning to fly!

When
The Helicopter Flight Lesson In Manassas Experience is offered seven days a week year-round, subject to availability. Flights are offered between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Duration
The Helicopter Flight Lesson In Manassas Experience has a ground instruction time of approximately 15 minutes and flight time of 30 minutes with a total duration of approximately 1 hour, unless the Extended Flight Option is selected.

Weather
The Helicopter Flight Lesson In Manassas Experience may be cancelled by the Pilot due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What to wear
Dress comfortably, flat rubber-soled shoes are recommended for this aerial adventure.

Additional Information
Your flight will take place on the Robinson R22 which provides a very smooth ride and has dual controls. The maximum weight of the participant may not exceed 220lbs and must be less than 6'2" tall. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe are not eligible to participate.

All participants must have a valid photo ID (passport or driving license). Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight.

Fantastic!

The flight lesson was great! Something that I would not have experienced if it wasn't a gift. The pilot had me do alot of the steering while up in the air. We hovered near the tarmac but, not while we were up flying around. The flight lesson only lasted 20 minutes from lift off to landing... my wife was kinda bummed with that since she paid for 30 minutes. But, I had a fantastic time!

A nice flight, need more instruction

The helicopter flight was good and I got the opportunity to share the controls, yet I got the feeling that this trip was just a PR ploy to find out if people are willing to plunk down the big $$ to get a license. The 15 minutes of ground school were completely skipped over in lieu of a safety briefing, probably because it was a windy day. It was a nice flight but this experience was definitely NOT as advertised on this website.

Great Time!

I Learned to Hover!

Breathtaking Experience

Answer: The Helicopter Flight Lesson In Manassas takes place at Manassas Regional Airport, 10503 Wakeman Drive in Manassas, Virginia. The focus of the activity is on the flight lesson, rather than a scenic tour. The participant will spend their time learning to pilot the helicopter and stay within a short radius of the airport. All flight tours and lessons are offered with Certified Flight Instructors that have a 100% safety record.
