Kitesurfing is a thrilling water sport that uses wind power to pull a rider through the water on a small surfboard or a kiteboard. Your Southern California Kiteboarding lesson will take place in Long Beach on the Belmont Shore, known as one of the best spots to learn Kiteboarding. During this educational lesson on the beach, your instructor will teach you proper site and gear selection, Kite inflating and rigging, safety releases, sign language, launching techniques, flying in the power zones, harness use, how to slide your feet, control the kite as well as line wrapping and handling.

The San Pedro Kiteboarding Lessons are offered seven days a week year-round, subject to availability. Lessons typically begin at 11:00 AM.

How Long Is It

The Long Beach Kiteboarding Lessons include 2-3 hours of instruction and has a total duration of approximately 3 hours.

Weather

The Intro to Kitesurfing Lessons may be rescheduled by the Instructor due to poor weather conditions.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably in swimwear. It is recommended to wear sunglasses and sunscreen and to bring a change of clothing.

Price includes tax and all gear and equipment.

Participants must be at least 10 years of age and be able to swim. Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Life jackets are provided and must be worn at all times. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate.

Gratuities for the Instructor are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form.

Question: I got this lesson as a Birthday present and am wondering when I should schedule the lesson. Can the Kiteboarding class be cancelled if there is no wind on the day of the lesson?

Answer: Kiteboarding requires very little wind to get going. About 5 knots is all that is needed. The beach breezes where the lesson is located provides a nearly constant breeze so lessons more likely to be cancelled due to too much wind than not enough.
Question: I'm interested in purchasing the kiteboarding lesson in LA for my son. Will he be able to go out onto the water after the three hour course?

Answer: The first three hour lesson is simply an Intro to Kiteboarding. If your son wants to hit he water on his own, we recommend buying the package that includes all three lessons. The third lesson involves a performance assessment in which the Instructor will asses whether or not your son will be ready to ride the waves. Keep in mind the amount of time needed to learn to kiteboard varies between students. Strength, agility and previous experience with kites all play a factor in how quickly you will learn. Of course, even veteran kiteboarders will tell you that you never quit learning.
