Enjoy a private hot air balloon flight over the beautiful Lehigh Valley.  This balloon ride begins with the inflation of the balloon at sunrise or just a few hours prior to sunset.  You and your guest will meet the pilot at the launch site and help with the inflation of the balloon. Once the balloon is upright, the two of you will climb into the basket.  The pilot will continue to heat the air inside the balloon until it becomes lighter than air allowing the balloon to gracefully rise into the wind.

The basket will move in tandem with the winds, drifting for about an hour.  As the balloon drifts, take ahold of magical moments and breathtaking views of the valley below with your special guest.  After an hour the balloon will descend, and the two of you will be treated to a champagne toast.

Providing the two of you with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the wonderful sensation of being almost a 1000 feet from the ground in a basket.  This is an amazing private airborne adventure that is sure to create lasting memories.

Balloon Ride

5 stars

My parents really enjoyed their hot air balloon ride. This was their 50th wedding anniversary gift and it was perfect for them. \The people from Sights Unseen were wonderful, very friendly! My parents had a great ride and I had fun riding along in the chase car. I was looking for something special for my parents to do to celebrate this very special anniversary and I'm happy to say I found it! Thank you!

- - Easton, PA

Question: I'm looking to give this as a gift for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Does this balloon ride include a champagne toast or anything special like that? And does it include ground transportation for my parents to get back to the start point once the balloon ride is over?

Answer: Yes, the Lehigh Valley Private Balloon Ride includes a Champagne toast following the flight and transportation back to the initial meeting location is included.

Question: I would like to know the location of the Lehigh Valley Private Hot Air Balloon Ride, dates and hours.

Answer: The Lehigh Valley Hot Air Balloon Flight is offered seven days a week April thru October, subject to availability. Flights take place at Sunrise and Sunset. Flight times will vary upon the time of year the flight is scheduled. This flight is offered out of three locations: New Jersey, Phillipsburg Pennsylvania, Easton Pennsylvania, Wind Gap Once you have a confirmed reservation we will provide you with a complete address for the launch location.

Question: Where in NJ is this place located?

Answer: The Lehigh Valley Private Hot Air Balloon Ride leaves from Phillipsburg, NJ. Once you have a confirmed reservation we will provide you with the exact launch location. As this location is subject to change, we are not able to provide an address until the provider has set the location.

Question: How does the pilot steer a Hot Air Balloon?

Answer: The balloon is pushed by the wind, so whichever way the wind is blowing is the direction the balloon will travel. Luckily the wind changes directions at different altitudes. The pilot can change the direction by ascending and descending. Of course this isn't an exact science so you never know for sure where you'll be landing.

Question: We were given the Lehigh Valley Private Hot Air Balloon Ride as wedding present and are trying to figure out when a good time to book will be. We love the fall but it can get cold in the morning. How much colder will it be on the balloon?

Answer: The temperature in the balloon will actually be very similar to what it is on the ground. The temperature changes about 3 degrees for every 1000 feet and you'll be ascending to around 1500 feet. That change will be offset by the burner used to heat the air in the balloon. And since the balloon moves with the wind, there is almost no wind chill. Dress as you would for the weather on the ground that day and you should be fine.

Question: I was going to buy the Lehigh Valley Private Hot Air Balloon Ride for my parents for their anniversary and notice there are three start locations. I don't know the area very well and would like to leave it up to them. Will I have to decide on a location before I purchase the certificate?

Answer: No, the certificate will be valid for all three locations. Your parents will pick the location when they request their reservation.

Question: Since this is a private flight, can I request that we fly over the Delaware River?

Answer: It all depends which way the winds are blowing on the day of your flight. The pilot cannot steer the balloon but can ascend and descend to try to find different currents. Part of the fun of Hot Air Ballooning is you never know where you'll end up.

Question: Our family was thinking of giving our grandparents a Hot Air Balloon ride. Is it a problem that they have limited mobility?

Answer: It may be. The basket of the balloon is about 4 feet high and they will need to be able to get in and out on their own. In addition they will also need to be able to stand for extended periods of time. For safety reasons people with limited mobility are not permitted.
