Make Your Own Wine in Boston

Learn How to Make Your Own Wine in Natick, Massachusetts

participants Price for 1 Participant

Be your own winemaker and learn to make and bottle your own custom batch of wine - complete with your own custom label! This unique wine making experience in Natick begins as you learn about varietal information, discussing the attributes of the different grapes including their body, tannin, sweetness, dryness, fruitiness and more.

After you've decided upon which type of grape you would like to use and the wine you wish to create, you and your Winemaker will select the various components comprising your batch. Once the wine is crafted, it will then sit through a fermenting process for approximately 45 days. When the grapes have transformed into the perfect batch of wine, it's time to bottle. You will meet with the Winemaker once again, who will assist you in the bottling, corking, and sealing of your very own wine.

However, your experience isn’t complete until you have designed, printed and applied your custom label to each of the wine bottles! This unique Boston Wine Making Experience Gift is the perfect way to learn about wine.

Question: I see that the location is Natick, MA - but what is the facility? I'm not aware of any vineyards in this area. So is the experience - tasting wines from California or other regions and mixing juices from vineyards to ferment into wine? I'd like to understand a little more about the facility and process, any information is appreciated.

Answer: The Make Your Own Wine experience takes place at a Brewing Facility and Microbrewery in Natick. It is a place where individuals and small groups of people can learn to brew their own favorite beer, make their own wine or soft drinks. The participant will choose the type of wine they would like to make from a list of reds and whites. Once chosen, they will then be guided on measuring out the required ingredients, adding them to the steam-fired copper kettles at prescribed times and stirring the mixture during the boil. The cooked wine is flash cooled and transferred to a fermenting vessel. Once the wine is ready, the participant will return to bottle the wine, apply the custom designed labels and take the two cases home.

Question: I was considering this as a wedding gift, but I noticed the price was for 1 participant. Does that mean one visit? Please advise.

Answer: The Make Your Own Wine in Boston Experience Gifts Certificate is for one participant and their guest(s). Participants may invite up to three guests to join them for the wine making experience. Included in the price of the experience is one batch of wine, 2 cases of 758 ml bottles, complete with personalized labels. In other words, it makes a great gift for two participants however only one batch of wine is made, not one batch per person. The experience itself includes two visits, one to make the wine and another to bottle it.

Question: Hi I'd love to know more about how long each session is - since they are during the week it's definitely messed art to figure out how much time off in the day we would need. As I read it I could buy this as a gift to my girlfriend but come with her as a guest so we could both participate, correct? I'm very excited for this!

Answer: The Making Your Own Wine Experiences are offered five to six days a week year-round, subject to availability. Appointments are typically available between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM on weekdays, except Wednesdays, and between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM on Saturdays and 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sundays. (Sunday reservations are not available during July and August.) The experience includes a tasting and wine creation session which is typically one hour in duration; a fermentation process of six weeks and a second one hour session for bottling. The gift recipient may invite up to three guests to join them in the experience.

Question: I am looking for a gift to give my son and his fiancee for Christmas. They are looking to make their own wine and labels. This would be located in Natick MA correct?

Answer: The Make Your Own Wine experience gift is a private experience for up to four participants. The activity takes place in Natick, MA and the price includes a batch of wine (2 cases of 758 ml bottles), complete with personalized labels.

Question: It says that the price includes two cases of wine. How many bottles is that? And, if I were to want more than 2 cases with the same wine what would be the process or how much more would it be?

Answer: A case of wine includes 12 758 ml bottles, so you receive a total of 24 758 ml bottles of wine to take home once the experience is complete. Unfortunately participants are not able to purchase more cases of the same wine unless they participate in the experience a second time.

Question: I would like to confirm that more than one person can attend the wine making session with the purchase of a single experience gift certificate.

Answer: Yes, for the Boston Wine Making the gift recipient may invite up to three guests to join them for the reservation. The group will enjoy the experience together. However, only one batch of batch of wine, 2 cases, complete with personalized labels is included (rather than a case for each participant).

Question: I think that this would make a perfect birthday gift for my wife. What exactly will she get to do as part of the experience?

Answer: Participants in the Make Your Own Wine Class first choose the style of wine they would like to brew from the following red wine options: Barolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chianti, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Vieux Chateau du Roi, Zinfandel; and white wine options: Chardonnay, Chenin Blac, Pinot Grigio, Reisling, Sauvignon Blanc and White Zinfandel. Once chosen, they will then measure out the required ingredients, add them to the individual steam-fired copper kettles at prescribed times and then stir the mixture during the heating process. Once ready, wine is transferred to a fermenting vessel. When ready, the participant will then be able to bottle the wine, apply the custom designed labels and take two cases of it home for enjoyment.

Question: Am I correct that the actual bottles are not included? How many bottles are in a case of wine?

Answer: The class includes enough wine to fill 24 to 25 758ml bottles. The actual bottles are not included. You may bring your own or purchase them from the wine maker for about $18 to $20 per case. Once you receive your reservation confirmation you may contact them for current pricing. Remember that you will not need the bottles until after the 6 week fermentation process is complete and you go back to bottle and label your wine.
