Get ready for whitewater thrills and spills on the Middle-Fork of the American River during this full-day Whitewater Rafting Adventure. This high intensity Class III – V Rafting Adventure is geared towards thrill seekers and individuals with previous rafting experience, and is a great way to spend time out on the waters of this California River!

The excitement begins first thing in the morning when you meet your Guide at the Rafting Center located approximately 40 minutes east of Sacramento in Aburn, CA. Here you'll receive an orientation and safety overview before heading out to the shores of the American River where you’ll receive your paddle, helmet and life jacket. Once ready, the boats will be launched and you'l have a chance to practice your paddling skills as prior to heading towards the fun of the Tunnel Chute and Kanaka Falls! Throughout the adventure, you'll paddle a total of eighteen miles down the American River, taking a break mid-day to enjoy a freshly packed lunch along the river. Chunder and Parallel Parking rapids make this rafting trip to remember!

The Middle Fork Rafting Trips are offered five days a week April thru September, subject to availability. Trips typically begin at 8:00 AM.

How Long Is It

This American River Whitewater Rafting Trip includes a 17 mile rafting trip and has a total duration of approximately 9 hours.

Weather

The American River Whitewater Rafting may be rescheduled due to high winds, heavy rain or other inclement weather, and low water levels. All decisions to cancel, move, or postpone scheduled trips will be made by the Guide the day of the reservation.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably, and bring a change of clothing. Recommended items include a water bottle, swimsuit, shorts, t-shirt, a fleece or jacket, outdoor sandals or non-slip sneakers, sunglasses or hat and sunscreen. Flip-Flops are not permitted and cotton clothing is not recommended.

Your rafting experience will take place with a Professional Guide and includes all rafting gear, and life jackets (life jackets will fit a maximum chest size of 52 inches). Lunch is included and typically features Deli-Wraps with multiple meat, veggie and cheese options. Gluten-free choices are also available.

Participants are advised to be well rested. Please avoid drinking alcohol 24 hours prior to the scheduled experience.

Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions such as heart or lung conditions, severe asthma, back problems, recent surgery, obesity or osteoporosis or any other condition which is considered unsafe are not eligible to participate.

The recommended minimum age for participants is 13 years old. All participants must be in good physical condition and know how to swim. For your safety reasons, Guides reserve the right to turn away anyone they feel will jeopardize the safety of the trip.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form.

Question: What are the differences between the Middle Fork and South Fork of the American River?

Answer: The South Fork is a steady Class III whitewater experience from top to bottom. It is a perfect fit for the beginner rafter or even the experienced rafter that would like to bring his family out to discover the thrill of white water. The Middle Fork ranges from Class III to Class V and is for the more appropriate for individuals with prior rafting experience and thrill seekers alike.
Question: I've never been whitewater rafting before, but I've always wanted to try it. Is this a good trip for a beginner?

Answer: While the experienced raft guides take every precaution to insure a safe rafting trip, the Middle Fork of the American River is an intermediate option offered on class IV and V rapids. We recommend starting with the South Fork American River Rafting experience. With steady Class III rapids throughout the entire run, it will prove plenty adventurous for any first time whitewater thrill seeker.
Question: What should I wear and what do I need to bring with me on the rafting trip?

Answer: Recommended items to wear include a swimsuit, sunhat or visor, sun glasses (with a head strap), tennis shoes or river sandals (flip-flops are not permitted), a windbreaker, waterproof sunscreen, shorts, and dry clothes for wearing upon your return.
Note that it's difficult to take pictures while you're rafting. Professional photographers are positioned along the banks taking while you are in the rapids. These photos are available to purchase at the end of the trip.
Don't forget to bring spending money which you may needed for meals en route to and from you trip, for souvenir T-shirts and photographs or a guide tip.
Please do not bring pets and leave your valuables at home!

Answer: On the Middle Fork American River Rafting Trips a deli-wrap lunch with multiple meat, veggie and cheese options is served. Gluten Free options are also available.
Question: I am planning on buying this as a Christmas gift for my teenage kids. Are they able to go by themselves or will they need an adult to go with them?

Answer: If they are both 18 years of age or older then they may go on the rafting trip by themselves. If they are under 18 years old, they will need a parent or guardian to join them on the trip.
