Spend a beautiful day in the Nantahala Gorge and the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. You'll begin your trip in Bryson City, NC at the train depot, with a 2 hour railroad excursion over Fontana Lake and into the Nantahala Gorge. As you travel on the train, watch paddlers challenge the rapids you will soon be rafting.

After a paddling orientation your group will raft the entire 8 miles of the Nantahala River on a Follow-A-Guide raft trip. The Nantahala River, located in Nantahala National Forest, is one of America's favorite whitewater playgrounds and it will surely become yours. At the Nantahala River you and your guest will enjoy eight miles of constant waves and swift, clear currents that make the River a delight for all ages. The trip is approximately 2 hours and contains numerous Class I & II Rapids, with a Class III Rapid at the end of the adventure.

On your rafting trip you and your guest will be accompanied by a lead guide, a sweep guide, and typically a guide in every third raft. Since the Nantahala River is a dam-controlled river, water flows are great throughout the season!

At the end of your rafting adventure, you will be shuttled you to the Rafting Center where your dry clothes, hot showers, and a picnic lunch buffet await. Transportation back to the train depot in Bryson City and back to your car is provided.

Who
The Nantahala Raft N' Rail For Two Xperience Certificate® is for two participants. There will be up to a total of six participants in each raft and additional passengers on the train.

Guests
This experience is not suitable for non-paying guests.

When
The Nantahala Raft N' Rail For Two Experience is offered seven days a week March thru October, subject to availability. Trips begin at 10:30 AM.

Duration
The Nantahala Raft N' Rail For Two Experience includes a 2 hour train ride, 2 hours on the river and is approximately 6½ to 7 hours in total duration.

Weather
The Nantahala Raft N' Rail For Two Experience may be cancelled by the Guide due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What to wear
Dress comfortably and bring a change of clothing. Recommended items include a swimsuit, shorts, t-shirt, sunglasses or hat and sunscreen.

Additional Information
Your rafting experience includes all rafting gear and life jackets.

No previous whitewater experience required.

Nantahala River
Minimum Age: 7 years and 60lbs
Intensity Level: Mild to moderate, but not strenuous.

Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered by the Guide to be unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate.

Equipment Furnished on all trips includes Raft, paddle, PFD, helmet and paddling jacket if needed. Facilities available include changing rooms and showers, river store, free Wi-Fi and picnic pavilion.

Guide Gratuities are not included and can be extended following your rafting adventure. Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form.

Cancellation Policy
All changes to reservations for the Nantahala Raft N' Rail For Two Experience require fourteen (14) days advance notice. Changes to reservations are subject to a $40.00 administrative fee.

Xperience Certificates® cannot be exchanged once a reservation for the experience has been made.
