You and a guest will team up with an experienced rafting guide to learn proper techniques and safety skills. You will then be chauffeured through peaceful wildlife and rustic forests until you reach the rafting launch site. You may choose to enjoy exhilarating Class II – IV Rafting on the Upper Pigeon or relaxing Class I – II Rafting on the Lower Pigeon River.

If you select the exhilarating option, your rafting adventure will begin at the base of the Great Smokey Mountains where the Upper Pigeon River dam releases flow gracefully through peaceful Hartford. On the Upper Pigeon route, you will find yourself carving a gorge through the Great Smoky Mountains. You are immediately confronted with fast moving water and standing waves. Five miles of Class III rapids will provide a fun, fast paced whitewater run through rapids named, "Powerhouse" “Big Rock” and “Roller Coaster.”

If you are looking for a more relaxing trip, then the Lower Pigeon trip serves as a great introduction to whitewater fun for all ages. The lazy rapids of the Lower Pigeon will challenge those with no whitewater experience while showing off breathtaking view of the Great Smoky Mountains. Both the Upper and Lower Pigeon Rafting Trips are fully guided and suitable for both entry and intermediate level rafters; the Pigeon River offers a truly incredible adventure to remember.
