Looking to discover Rock Climbing? If you've always dreamed of venturing into the vertical world or you’re looking for a thrilling outing for your family, this introductory rock climbing class is perfect for you.

The fun begins at either Mammoth Lakes or South Lake Tahoe where you will meet your IFMGA/AMGA trained and certified guide and participate in a six hour, full day class where you will learn the basic knots for climbing, the fundamental safety systems of belaying, rappelling and climbing equipment. After a climbing skills demonstration you'll get lots time on the rock to show off and practice your new skills!

So whether you are looking to start a new hobby, or you just want to experience a new adventure this Introductory Rock Climbing Class in California makes for the perfect gift!

The Sierra Nevada Rock Climbing Adventure is offered seven days a week, May thru October, subject to availability.

How Long Is It

The Sierra Nevada Rock Climb Adventure has a clinic time of 6 hours and a total duration of approximately 6½ hours.

Weather

The Sierra Nevada Full Day Climbing Adventure may be rescheduled by the Instructor due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What To Wear

Please wear flexible and comfortable clothing appropriate for the outdoors.

Additional Information

No climbing experience is necessary. All gear: climbing harness, climbing shoes, carabiners, ropes, webbing, cord, belay devices, etc is provided for the lesson.

All Instructors are experienced climbers. Instructors are with the students at all times.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the form prior to participation.

Question: I noticed that you can take the Sierra Nevada Climbing class in 2 different locations. The certificate is a gift for my brother. Do I need to choose the location when I purchase the certificate or can I let him decide?

Answer: The certificate will be valid for both locations. The recipient may choose the location at the time of redemption.
Question: Do you need a lot of upper body strength to rock climb?

Answer: No. We're sure you've seen videos of solo climbers dangling by 2 fingers from a dangerous precipice and then pulling themselves up and over the top. This is an introduction to rock climbing course and you probably won't cover that! You'll be taught proper techniques and will end up using your leg muscles more than your arms.
Question: I am looking for a fun gift for my son's graduation, but he has never rock climbed. Would he need to bring anything with him to this class?

Answer: All of the equipment you'll need is provided by the course. If you bring any of your own equipment it will have to be checked by the instructor to make sure it's safe to use.
