This was a very lovely experience. A must try for foodies

I have been to Chapel Hill many times, but explored many different places during this tour. Our tour guide Aviva was lovely.

Wonderful Saturday Tour

5 stars

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the food tour of Chapel Hill-Carrboro. Our tour guide was personable and provided us with useful information. There was a variety of restaurants with personable chefs and staff and the food we sampled was extremely delicious. The walking was enjoyable, and we were able to see a lot on our way to the restaurants. We learned more about Carrboro. Thanks for a great afternoon.

Food Tour Fun with a little room for improvement

4 stars

Overall, we really enjoyed the food tour. The guide was very pleasant and the food we sampled in the different restaurants was delicious. Our favorite stops were Glasshalfful, Provence and Mint. The only real disappointment was Carrboro Beverage. They gave us these tiny amounts of awful beer to sample and that's it. I'm sure they enjoyed the group of shoppers in the store, but we could have skipped this stop since it didn't really add anything to the tour. The tasting offerings paled in comparison to the other stops on the tour. I'm not sure how these places are compensated (or even if they are) but the tour would be better if it could be organized more like a progressive dinner where you ate appetizers, soup or salad, small plate entrees and then dessert. We were plenty full after the tour, but the eating progression was pretty disjointed. All in all, we had fun and would do it again.

Raleigh Food Tour

5 stars

So, yeah. Full disclosure. This was our first 'food tour' so we were a tad uncertain going in, armed only with the written description of this experience. We had a blast!! We walked. We ate. We met some very interesting people who joined us for the tour. We walked. We ate more. It was great. The part we liked the best was the opportunity to visit with the chefs. At every stop, the chef would serve something in which they took great pride. They would come out to greet the tour group. Several are involved with the competitive cooking circuit, and we were tasting their competition-winning creations. Tapping into their creative genius was insightful, as they shared their perspective on international culture, life, love and gastronomy. The last stop, they pretty much served us a complete meal. We had delightful weather, and the walk in between settled us and gave space for the next exploration. For someone on a caloric budget, these were calories well-spent!

Great choices and great tour guide! I love in Raleigh and had not been to any of the places that we visited. So it is even great for locals.

Chapel Hill Food Tour

4 stars

We so enjoyed our travels and tastings through the streets of Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Our guide was great, and we were introduced to a few restaurants that we would love to visit again. The presentations of the restaurants were quite nice, and the afternoon......a delight! Will probably do the Experience Days again!!

This was a fun afternoon. Just the right amount of walking and talking. Loved the Chocolate Door! But nothing was bad either.

Food Tour Review

4 stars

We had a great time and are considering doing a Raleigh & Durham tour (in cooler weather). The tour was well organized and the tour guide very knowledgable. The food was delicious and we can't wait to return to most locations. Mint, Panzanella and Glasshalful are top on our list. Vimala's was our least favorite stop. We loved the story and the tea but thought the food was average. Maybe it was because Mint was so good or maybe because it was the end of a very hot day. Again, the experience was wonderful and look forward to future tours.

Great Time

5 stars

This was our first tour but not our last. We had a great time walking and tasting. From Cban and Polish to Southern and Chocolate, it was all good. 8 different places. We were all stuffed at the end, it was a good thing we walked. Very nice guide also.

Question: My husband and I received this tour as an anniversary gift. How much will we actually be eating on the tour?

Answer: Each of the four tour options includes 5-6 tastings. There is enough food served that most participants will not find it necessary to eat for quite a while afterwards. Tours are not intended to replace breakfast and lunch combined, but we do suggest eating a light brunch before the tour.

Question: I want to purchase this food tour as a gift for my grandparents. How much walking is involved? Is it fast-paced?

Answer: The Triangle Food Tours are typically 3 and 3 1/4 hours in duration and participants should expect to be standing or walking for at least half of the time. Tours are lead at a moderate pace and generally include one to one and a half miles of walking.

Question: Are beverages served?

Answer: Yes. Several of the restaurants typically serve a small sampling of wine to accompany their culinary creation. Most locations also provide water and a few also allow for the purchase of an additional beverage.

Question: I'm thinking of buying this as a gift for my husband and I to enjoy together. What types of food is served on the tour?

Answer: One of the best parts of this food tour is the element of surprise! The Chefs at the various restaurants you'll visit will decide that day the dishes that they will offer for you to sample. Usually the Chef will create a seasonal item and the types of dishes sampled range from soups to appetizers, salads, signature dishes or a version of the house specialty. Your Guide will provide a overview of the locations you will visit and the items you can expect to sample on the tour when you first meet.

Question: Are bathrooms available during the food tour?

Answer: Yes, bathrooms are available for use during the culinary tour at selected food-tasting locations.

Question: I would like to buy this gift experience for my friend who is a vegetarian. Are substitutions offered?

Answer: This culinary tour is not recommended for individuals with a food allergy or those who are a vegetarian. Each restaurant and chef decides what will be offered as tasting samples. Due to time constraints with the tour, there can be no individual substitutes. Participants who have food allergies or restricted diets who willing to abstain at some of the food stops are welcome to partake in the tour.
