Your chance to experience the thrills and spills of white water rafting on either the Hudson (NY) or Lehigh (PA) Rivers.

Nestled in a perfectly pristine part of the central Adirondacks, the Hudson River Gorge is rated as one of the Top 10 whitewater runs in America. And no wonder! This is the Hudson as she used to be; crystal clear, clean, alive and powerful, as she thunders beneath hundred foot granite cliffs, and over awesome rapids like Givneys' Rift, the Narrows, Little Nasty and Greyhound Bus Stopper.

The Hudson is most powerful in the spring and fall; somewhat more moderate in mid-summer. Scheduled dam releases assure terrific fun all season long.

In Spring, the Lehigh runs full and fast, when snowmelt and Spring rains combine to create some of the fastest whitewater of the year. These same conditions are recreated in the Summer and Fall each year, thanks to special water releases provided for whitewater rafting. You'll laugh, splash, scream and be thrilled by this 3 to 4 hour whitewater extravaganza. Any season of the year, this "Exhilarating Whitewater" trip is a hugely popular outing, a "must do" in the world of whitewater. A white water ride on the Hudson or Lehigh is an experience you will never forget.

This experience takes place in most weather conditions but may be affected by lightning or flood conditions.

What to wear
Clothing varies by season, but wear clothing that you don't mind getting wet. You will be provided with a 'what to wear' list.

Hudson river trip includes a snack while on the river and dinner following your trip. Lehigh trip includes breakfast, lunch & dinner and a souvenir T-Shirt.

Whitewater Rafting!

Overall this was a great experience. We must have been in the same group as Colleen below, because we had to wait for that injured person. That was a long wait, plus there were other times we had to wait on the river.

The guides were great, but sometimes I had to wonder why they told us right or left river, because it didn't seem like they were always telling us where the rocks were. A few rafts got stuck on rocks, but the guides were great in getting out of their kayaks and helping us off the rocks.

The food was Ok and the music in the evening was a bonus. I wish I knew about that part so we could have planned to stay later.

As for the value, I think it was more expensive using Xperience Days. They really didn't do anything special. We could have booked the rafting trip ourselves and saved a little money. If XD got us 'moved to the front of the line' then the additional cost would be worth it.

a 3.5 unbeatable scenery, nice guides but some things could use work.

Overall a good experience for the price. Whitewater challengers is like organized chaos when you pick up your bus pass, lunch and gear very crowded and hectic, but they seem to get it all off without a hitch. Their guides are very friendly and high-energy, and do their best to keep everyone on the ride in order. The Lehigh is gorgeous, you can't beat the views and the river, although a level 1, gives enough thrills to keep you interested. My complaints have to do with the amount of time that is wasted pausing on the river very boring. We waited almost 45 minutes at one stop because another, non-WhiteWaterChallengers individual had gotten injured on the river.There should have been a better back up system in place so that the other 60 or so of us could continue. Also, the guides do not prohibit the 'splashing' with buckets of water of people who are not in your boat. I found this annoying and dangerous.
At the end, you are given dinner and music, which was really nice, hot showers. Worth the trip and the price, I enjoyed!

DID IT!

Even though I got tossed from the raft by a less than friendly rock in the river - I enjoyed the experience greatly! I'm seriously thinking of taking kayak lessons in my area (Long Island Sound) and working my way up to the rapids but hitting the Hudson (rafting) will be an annual trip. Our guide, Jeff, was GREAT!
