About This Experience

General Information hide

Soar over the beautiful rolling hills, trees, and farmland known to Whitewater in Wisconsin during an approximately four hour Introductory Hang Gliding Flight Lesson .  By using the "low and slow" method, perfect for first-timers, you will learn to fly a hang glider!

The fun begins at Twin Oaks Airport, where you will meet your experienced instructor who will use a modified scooter to pull you into the air.  During the flight you will be towed to low altitudes of about 50 feet to 75 feet via a specially rigged scooter powered pulley system. Once airborne, your instructor will guide you and teach you to control the glider. You will have the opportunity to take six to ten flights during your lesson.

Who Is Included hide

The Whitewater Hang Gliding Flight Xperience Certificate® is for one participant. You will be joined by other participants during the lesson.

You may invite guests to watch your Hang Gliding Experience.

When It Is Offered hide

The Hang Glider Flights are offered seven days a week, April thru October, subject to availability. Lessons are typically scheduled to begin between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

How Long Is It hide

The Whitewater Gliding Flights have an average lesson lenght of 3½ to 4 hours and includes 6 to 10 Scooter Tow Flights.

Weather hide

The Whitewater Hang Glider Flight may be cancelled by the Instructor due to severe weather such as high winds or heavy rain.

What To Wear hide

Dress comfortably, layers and flat rubber-soled athletic shoes are recommended for this aerial adventure. Participants will be provided with all necessary equipment.

Additional Information hide

You can earn your Hang One (Beginner) rating in about 3 lessons and your Hang Two (Novice) rating in 6 - 10 lessons. Lessons take place at the Twin Oaks Airport near Whitewater, Wisconsin and camping is free to anyone willing to pitch a tent with bonfires on weekend nights.

Participation in the Hang Gliding Flight is limited to individuals weighing less than 225lbs and are at least 16 years of age. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe are not eligible to participate.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form. Participants under the age of 18 require written consent by a parent or legal guardian on the day of flight.


Reservation Information hide

All changes to reservations for the Whitewater Hang Gliding Flight Experience require fourteen (14) days advance notice.

Xperience Certificates® cannot be exchanged once a reservation for the experience has been made.
