Rita came to my home for a Thai cooking class. She was a joy and the food was amazing. She took the time to discuss the different flavor profiles and spices so that we could adapt recipes if spices were not available. She also shared great gardening tips for some of the ingredients. I wish I could do once a month with her!!! Will keep her in mind for catering as well. Thanks Rita.

My wife and I received this cooking class as a gift from our son and daughter for Christmas. Rita came and taught us how to cook aq delicious salmon fusion dinner that even I could make for a party. And I am not a cook! She was extremely pleasant and talkative. We enjoyed our class as well getting to know Rita. The food was excellent quality and tasted great. I would do it again. Highly recommended.

We had a great time learning how to cook one of our favorite meals with Rita. It was great that we got to customize the menu ourselves. As beginners, Rita was accommodating to our skill and knowledge level. She was also able to bring over the ingredients that were harder to find and told us where we could find them in the future. Even with our extremely small kitchen, we made it work and it was an overall great experience!

I bought this for my husband who loves to cook and the experience was way better than I could have imagined. We planned a menu beforehand and Rita came ready with everything that we could have needed. We weren't sure what to expect having the class in our own kitchen but it was great. Rita made the whole thing so relaxing and easy plenty of her own tips and always willing to share her experiences. The meals were great!! We have made them several times since and will continue to do so. And the Creme Brulee was fantastic! We have made it for friends several times and everyone comments that it was the best they've had! This cooking class was such as pleasure and we learned more about food than just the meals we prepared. Highly recommended you won't be disappointed.

My boyfriend gave me in an in-home cooking lesson with Rita for Christmas, and it was a fantastic experience! I am a beginner in the cooking arena, and she took the time to demonstrate basic cooking skills with explanations that were easy to replicate. My boyfriend is a more experienced cook, and she was also able to show him new skills that he has found to be very useful. Rita is an excellent teacher and was very patient!
She planned a wonderful menu which accommodated my dietary restrictions, and considered some of our favorite foods, showing us new ways to incorporate them into dishes. She also provided some of the appliances that I did not have in my kitchen, which was a great help! We recently re-made the meal from the lesson, and it turned out really well! Although we didn't need to, I know Rita would have been eager to answer any questions we may have had.
Rita also shared stories of her travel, family, and how she got started in the culinary field. Getting to know her was such a pleasure! I highly recommend this experience, it was such a great gift!

Cooking with Rita was great. For those looking to learn new skills in the kitchen, she explains what she's doing as she goes along and often asks you to help out. If you're just looking to let someone else do the work, she's cool with that, too... but the best part about my own experience was talking with Rita, learning about the ingredients in our dish, cooking a new type of cuisine (one that I'd specified beforehand), and eating one of the best meals that's ever been prepared in my house. My wife and I asked Rita to stay and eat with us, too, because I feel like we became friends during the cooking lesson. Good stuff.

I took part in a Thai Cooking Class with Chef Rita Conroy-Martin, and had a really lovely and informative afternoon. We learned how to make four dishes and ate at the Chefs home where she had laid out a lovely table with a Thai theme. Rita was patient and gave lots of tips during the preparation and cooking, I felt I could really master the dishes at home at the end. Rita made the whole experience an enjoyable one, even though the class was supposed to last 2 1/2 hours, we over ran to 3 1/2 hours and Chef Rita did not mind one bit, her passion for food and teaching shines.

My wife purchased an in home class as a Christmas gift for me - what an amazing present!Rita was exceptional at ensuring our experience was exactly what we desired. We modified things a bit having my wife and I both participate in the preparation/learning aspect while we also had another couple there simply to enjoy the meal. Rita has great patience and great teaching skills - her love of food, people and being a chef come right through. We would highly recommend her services for classes or dinner parties.

I bought this cooking class as a birthday gift for my wife. My intention wasn't to tell her that she needs cooking lessons because she is already quite good in the kitchen. I wanted this to be an enjoyable experience for both of us. The chef (Rita) contacted me about a week before the class via email. She wanted to know what kind of cuisine I was interested in learning and also needed a few other details. I told her what I wanted and she promptly replied with a proposal of a three course meal based on my input. I thought that she did a good job of selecting the proper dishes considering we only had 2.5 hours to prepare the food and eat. Chef Rita was well spoken, very polite and professional. We went to her home and used her kitchen for this class. Normally she uses local commercial kitchens but due to the date I picked for my class, there were none available. She had us do most of the hands-on work and gave good instructions and advise along the way. Our meals came out great and we had fun cooking it. I wanted the experience to be casual and fun and it turned out to be just that. Overall my wife and I were very pleased with the service that Chef Rita provided.

Question: I would like to see available dates for the different cooking classes offered in Ann Arbor Michigan.
Answer: At this time there are no public classes scheduled by the Chef. However, the class can be conducted at the participant's home and may be scheduled for any available date (typically, two weeks advance notice is necessary).
Question: I'm thinking of getting this for a birthday gift, can I talk with the chefs before hand?
Answer: The Cooking Class in Ann Arbor is conducted in the home and taught by Chef Rita Conroy-Martin and Chef Conroy-Martin. Communication with the Chefs is typically done upon reservation of the class when the menu for the class is discussed.
Question: How exactly does this work, does it happen at a home kitchen or do we go somewhere to meet the chef? Is there a choice? How many options are available for a menu? What does the 160 dollars include - instruction and food or just instruction?
Answer: This class can be conducted in your home or maybe reserved for one of the group sessions offered at the Big Georges Kitchen Store in Ann Arbor.
The price includes instruction as well as the food prepared. The Chef will show you how to prepare tasty French, German or Irish meals and if you choose to enjoy the class in your home, the menu may be tailored to both the cuisine and dishes you wish to learn.
