The Newburyport Lighthouse offers lunch or dinner Sunday thru Friday, year-round, subject to availability. Lunch reservations are typically scheduled at 12:00 PM. Dinner reservations are typically scheduled at 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM.

The Newburyport Lighthouse Dining For Two is offered in conjunction with The Lighthouse Preservation Society, a nonprofit organization that has made lighthouse preservation a national issue. This prestigious group is also the recipient of a Presidential Achievement Award from the federal government for its efforts to preserve our lighthouse heritage. This experience has been named “the ultimate romantic dining destination” by Boston’s Phantom Gourmet, and called “the most private and exclusive dining space in New England” by Fox TV news.

The meal is fully catered and served by your own private waitstaff. Participants may choose their lunch or dinner selection from one of Newburyport restaurants: Mission Oak Grill, Starboard Galley, Loretta, Glenn's Restaurant and Cool Bar, or Brown Sugar Thai. Alcoholic beverages are not included, but you may bring your own.

Wonderful time

My husband and I went to the Newburyport Light house and had an amazing time. We had our food delivered at a wonderful spaced out pace and were able to catch up on all the things we don't always have time to chat about it was wonderful. Romantic, relaxing and so unique. I'd recommend it to any couple.

Great Experience

We recently dined at the Newburyport Lighthouse. My husband received a gift certificate from our son to celebrate his 60th birthday. What a wonderful way to celebrate this milestone birthday! Dean has always been a lighthouse enthusiast, and spending a rainy evening in this special environment was a delight. Our server was both gracious and full of knowledge. Before we began the culinary portion of the evening, he shared his extensive knowledge of lighthouses in the area, as well as the Newburyport one in detail. After taking our dinner order from the Mission Oak Grill (one of the best filet mignons ever!) he had to drive to the restaurant between courses to pick up the next course. So we had plenty of time to enjoy the gorgeous view and the cozy and romantic room. We would recommend this experience to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion in an unusual, but delightful way.

This was great. The experience was really terrific and the food and service were very good. Great weather too. A truly unique experience. Two draw backs. It took a long time to schedule and Experience Days was not the most helpful way to go. The can be improved. Also, you should notify people that they need to bring their own wine or other alcoholic drinks with them. The server went out to buy us some wine which was above and beyond the call of duty.

Lighthouse Dinner Newburyport

As a special celebration for our 40th Wedding Anniversary, we enjoyed the intimate and unique setting of this venue. Jim was an outstanding server, up and down the 55 steps and 6 foot ladder, at least 6 trips to deliver our meal from the Mission Oak Grill. The food was tasty, although not very HOT ,and since it was a rather cold night, my husband felt chilly throughout the meal. This experience will be cherished forever.

Great!!!

My fiance and I recieved this as a gift but we would certainly do this again!! We weren't sure what to expect but what we got surpassed anything we had imagined. Basically, you are in a very quaint space, all on your own and your lovely host takes your order and serves you slowly - European Style. The food we got was from Mission Oak Grill and it was delicious! We enjoyed the relaxed feel and laid back atmosphere while experiencing a beautiful view of Newburyport. Great for celebrating an anniversary, birthday, etc. very romantic and different!

Question: Can you provide me more information on the food selection for this tour? Is this in addition to the cost of the Experience?

Answer: The Newburyport Lighthouse Dinner price includes the meal. The meal is fully catered and participants may choose their dinner selection from one of Newburyport's finest local restaurants. The participating restaurants are subject to change but they always offer a wide variety of options. In the past they've offered everything from seafood and steak to Thai and other international cuisine.
Question: This is a great idea for my parents. Are there stairs involved, if so, how many? Is it handicapped accessible?

Answer: There are stairs involved, in fact, there is a ladder involved. Originally constructed for one caretaker, the stairs are narrow to climb. At the top of the stairs there is a short step ladder that each guest will climb to arrive at the dinner destination, which is situated close to the actual light beam. Unfortunately this experience is not handicapped accessible.
Question: I am interested in purchasing this for my wife's 50th birthday. I see that this is a catered event. Will we have a server or is everything set up when we get there?

Answer: The experience includes a private waiter or waitress.
Question: Do they provide any other services, like transportation to and from the lighthouse?

Answer: Once your reservation has been confirmed, you will receive an email from Experience Days with all of the Lighthouse Preservation Society's contact information. While they don't make the reservations for you, they have information and deals for everything from transportation to lodging.
Question: The person I wanted to get this for had his knee replaced recently. Is there an elevator?

Answer: No, unfortunately there isn't an elevator in the lighthouse.
