See sandhill cranes in their natural habitat with this 4-hour sunrise tour of the Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, New Mexico.

One of the most spectacular wildlife settings in North America, the Bosque Del Apache is an oasis for migratory birds and wildlife. Meet your guide and group at 6am in Socorro, and head into the refuge. (If you’d like to ride with the crew from Albuquerque, this can be arranged as well). As the sun comes up over the wetlands, Arctic geese and colourful ducks launch into the water and the air fills with the sounds of honking and the loud trumpeting call of sandhill cranes, the star of the show. Your guide is full of information about the species that overwinter here, and you’ll learn all about sandhill cranes’ habits, history, and habitats. They’ll take you to the best feeding and rest areas for an up-close view of the cranes. Seeing the birds take to the skies with their magnificent wingspan and bright red forehead patch is a real treat for any wildlife lover, and you’re guaranteed to see them in abundance here. A spotting scope can be provided, but it’s recommended that you bring your favorite binoculars, and a camera to capture those magical wildlife moments.

Parts of our tour are on spent in the van on vehicle loops and other will be spent hiking trails or along the river.
