Bring you camera and your appetite to Capitol Hill, the earliest and most historically diverse neighborhood in Washington DC. Discover how the neighborhood has evolved over the years while savoring some of the best bites in the area on this three hour Walking Food Tour.

The excitement begins when you meet your friendly, local foodie guide in near the Eastern Market.  You and the rest of the guests will then begin to journey though thriving southeast neighborhood, home to the U.S. Capitol and Supreme Court. Your guide will escort you to delicious and eclectic eateries in the District, both long standing and newly established, reminiscent of the working class history of Capitol Hill. Some examples of the gourmet treats you may sample are 18th Century inspired Anglo-Indian Cuisine, American comfort food, Handmade Italian dessert, traditional Salvadorian dishes and more!

The Capitol Hill Food Tour Experience Gifts Certificate is valid for one participant, unless additional participants are added onto the certificate. You will be joined by up to 13 additional participants on the tour.

When It Is Offered hide

The Capitol Hill Culinary Tours are offered Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday year round, subject to availability. Tours typically begin at 11:30 AM on Wednesdays and 2:00 PM on Weekends.

How Long Is It hide

The Capitol Hill Walking Food Tours have a tour length of approximately 3 hours and a total duration of approximately 3¼ hours.

Weather hide

The Washington DC Food Tours take place in all weather conditions, but may be rescheduled by the Guide due to sever weather conditions.

What To Wear hide

Dress comfortably. Flat rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this culinary adventure. Flip-flops, high heels and dress-shoes are not recommended.

Additional Information hide

Tours finish within three blocks of the starting point and include 1½ to 2 miles of walking. There are typically four or five stops along the tour, each stop will last between 20 and 25 minutes.

All dishes are served sitting down, so you can enjoy the ambiance of each restaurant while trying their specialties, and hearing their stories. All dishes served are included in the price of the tour. The dishes you will try resemble small meals rather than traditional tastings. During the Food Tour, each restaurant will serve water or other beverages. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased during the tour from the restaurant(s).

Eating a light brunch before the tour rather than lunch is recommended. Enough food is served that most participants will not need dinner after the tour.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the experience no substitutions can be made.

Gratuities for your tour guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

All changes to reservations for the Capitol Hill Food Tour Experience require fourteen (14) days advance notice.
