• Fun tour!

  Liam was great! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Portland, and we stopped at important landmarks. The donuts were delicious too of course! Would recommend to anyone going to visit Portland.

• Not your average donut tour!

  We retired and have lived in Cape Elizabeth for the past 7 years. Family came up for the October holiday and we wanted to do something different. We use Viator when we travel so we booked this donut tour. It was great. The donuts were unique. And our tour guide’s (Ben?) narration and choice of how to layout the walking portion was so thoughtful.

• Great donuts with bit of history!

  Ben was awesome tour guide, showing us parts of the city we didn’t find when exploring on our own! Donuts were amazing, best time to do this tour in my opinion is the first in the morning, less crowds. It was Labor Day weekend but still stellar. Thanks Ben!

• Portland Donut Tour

  Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Even included some history. Definitely recommended if in the area!

• Pass On This One!

  If you aren’t taking any other tours you’ll get some history from listening to Ben. I took a few others and thought his explanations were the least detailed. We went to 3 stores and got 4 separate quarters of a donut, in different flavors, and two miniature donuts. Ben put on gloves that were thrown in and out of his bag as well as dropped on the ground. Then he cut up the donuts and handed us pieces. Not very sanitary. When I asked why we weren’t given water he said they would have to raise the price of the ticket. Really??!! I think you would be better off going to the six donut stores and buying your own. Even if you take a bite and throw it out, it will be much cheaper and you’ll have more donuts.

• It’s more of a history tour with a few donut bites.

  Very few donuts and they were touched and cut with a dirty glove and a dirty knife. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining.

• Donuts and history!

  Knowledgeable guide who clearly loved Portland. Good donuts! The length of time was just perfect for a walk. Take this excursion when it is not hot and humid!

  Ben took us to 3 unique donut shops. We definitely liked them all but how do you decide your favorite? Warm? Made with potato flour? So good! Thanks, Ben, for your knowledge of the city and history. Very enjoyable!

• Portland’s sweetest tour

  We recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of Portland and loves donuts! Nice variety of tasty treats from yeasty donuts to potato donuts. Liam is a very knowledgeable guide, very personable and friendly.

• Awesome tour with Donuts! Whats not to like?

  What an awesome walking tour. Liam was a great tour guide. He so fun energetic and personable. I read other reviews recommending him as the guide and they were right on the money! The tour ended up being just being my wife and myself on a Friday morning. It was such a memorable experience. Seeing the line to Holy Donut and Liam running in to get them for us was a blessing! Our favorite ones were the freshly baked warm mini donuts from Eighty 8! Fruity pebbles was the best!.
  This was such a unique tour and we would highly recommend it to anyone coming to visit Portland. Since it was just the two of us we got to keep all the donuts at the end!
  We didn't realize that it had only been running for a few months but it was one of the high lights of our getaway Trip. Hopefully it will continue to run so more people can enjoy this experience!

• Fun and tasty

  Great tour. This tour is both educational and tasty. Our guide was very knowledgeable but also excited to share his love of his city. We saw it all and learned much. 3 donut store stops, each very different types with great stories. My teenagers (16 and 18) loved it to (and that is hard to do!)

  We had a great time on this donut tour! Such a fun thing to do for a bachelorette weekend. We learned about the history of Portland the origin of the donut as well as tasted donuts from 3 different places downtown! Delicious and no lines! Ben was a great tour guide and made it a really great experience. Would definitely recommend for anyone who’s interested. Thanks again! 🍩

  ***WASTE OF $$$*** Nothing against our tour guide…nice guy…but this tour SUCKS. For how much money it cost, we should of walked on our own to each shop & gotten our own donuts. It was boring & also very unsanitary. Our tour guide touched/dispersed every single donut. He did have a single glove on but it was still very strange & UNPROFESSIONAL. He also cut the donut in a plastic container that he brought himself & even helped himself some of the donuts that we paid for.

• Fun short “history” tour and donuts. Perfect.

  Liam was a fun host with a curiosity that makes him a great tour guide. Very fun. Thanks fo the opportunity! If ever in Portland and want to tour the Old Port, add this to your list.

• We had a good time!

  We had a good time! Our guide, Ben, kept it interesting! He had a good mix of history and interesting facts about the city and the donuts. It never got boring and the donuts were delicious. I will say, the description says it's a "casual, 1 mile walk". It may be one mile, but I would argue the "casual" part. Just know that you have to keep it moving. Also, Portland is quite hilly and the brick and cobblestone sidewalks and roads can make it a little challenging (we had a person with a cane with us). All in all, we had a great time, learned alot, and had yummy donuts. We are glad we chose to do it!

• Nice tour with a few donut tastes

  The tour was a nice way to learn more about Portland. The few bites of donuts was fun but not that fulfilling. Liam was entertaining but walked way too fast.

  This is a history walking tour with stops for donuts along the way, which are great! You will not be learning heavily about the donut, but the history section was informative and easy to follow along with given the amount of time the tour allowed. Bennie was great and kind!

  We really enjoyed this tour. The donuts were great according to my donut-obsessed teen. I loved hearing the history of Portland. The guide was knowledgeable and informative. The city was super nice. All around a good time.

• Great experience with a great guide!

  This was a last minute plan and we are so happy we did it. First, the donuts were fantastic. More important, we had such a fabulous time and learned a lot about Portland. Our guide was so informative and very funny. I am so happy this was the start of our trip to Maine!

  The donut tour was a blast! An easy walk through lovely Portland, while sampling delicious donuts. What’s not to love? The extra was what we learned about Portland’s history along the way. What a great way to spend a couple hours in this fun city!

• Rainy Day donuts are yummy

  We explored Old Port on a drizzly afternoon with Benny and had a jolly time. His humor and history was just the right mix for our group; we learned, laughed and fought over who got the bigger sample and who got to get any extras. Benny was very open and kind, had I been more generous I would have offered him an extra…but the extra were warm and cover in deliciousness so naturally our group gobbled them up. But next time, maybe. 😋

  Great value for the money! We love food tours and this was something different. Our guide was both informative and personable. Would definitely recommend this tour for something fun! All of the donuts were great but we LOVED the mini ones!

• Disappointed from Florida.

  The tour guide had some interesting facts about Portland, but seemed to be sick, coughing and spitting up. Donits from two of the shops were carried in a bag and divided among the group in small pieces. He chose the flavors, which were not what I was looking for. Needs to up his game on all aspects. Disappointed from Florida.

• Maine Donut Tour - Portland

  I recommend this tour! Our tour guide Benny was great. It was pouring at our scheduled tour time: I was afraid we would have to cancel. Benny checked the radar maps and we were able to enjoy the tour a little later in the morning. Very informative, fun experience, just the right length of time!

• Well worth the money! Great Donuts while learning the history of Portland!

  What a fun experience! This is not just a donut tour, but a great history lesson and understanding of Portland! My 10 yo and husband loved it as well. Ben was great! He is so personable and definitely is the right person for this job. He made the tour fun and interesting. Worth the money and I would recommend for all ages!

  Surprisingly great! We signed up for this basically to fill a morning before we took off for Acadia and all 4 of us absolutely loved it. The donuts were good but the real gem was the tour guide Liam. Can’t say enough positive about him. Good stories. Made us laugh. Couldn’t have asked for more.

  The tid bits of history and trivia of Portland. Liam’s light hearted humor and interactions with all group members. The tour was fun, entertaining, and informative. Would definitely recommend and encourage others to go.

  Ben was great! We toured Portland at a leisurely pace that included various historical stories. At the three donut stops, some background about the shop was included and how the donuts were made. I would better describe this tour as a historical tour that had some donuts, which is not a bad thing!

  The tour was fabulous and so was our guide. We learned a lot about the old port area of Portland Maine as well as tasted some of the best donuts we’ve ever had. Eliam our guide was professional, informative and great sense of humor. Highly recommend.

• Fun and tasty way to see Portland

  Ben was a fun and knowledgeable guide. This tour was a nice combination of tasty treats and Portland/Maine history. We got to sample several flavors of donuts from 3 different locations- just enough to get a good taste but didn’t feel overfull when we finished. My 90 year old mother was on the tour and Ben adjusted the pace so she was able to keep up. He did a great job of finding us a place to sit and eat our samples so we were comfortable and mom had a chance to rest between stops.
