This Cape Fear Flight Lesson is your chance to take over the controls and Learn How to Fly a Helicopter! The fun begins at the Cape Fear Regional Jetport where you will meet with your Certified Flight Instructor.

Following a briefing on the helicopter's systems as well as pre-flight checks and a flight safety discussion, you will strap into the Co-Pilot’s seat and prepare for take-off with your Certified Instructor at your side. Once airborne, you will have the opportunity to learn to fly straight and level along with the challenge of hovering. Throughout the lesson you will have the opportunity to enjoy bird's eye views of the Islands and coastline below. 

Whether you are looking to begin a new hobby or have always wanted to take the controls of a Helicopter, this hands-on Discovery Flight Lesson will be an unforgettable experience and makes a perfect gift for any occasion!

This experience is not suitable for additional guests, but spectators may accompany you to the Jetport.

When It Is Offered hide

The Discovery Helicopter Flight Lessons are offered up to seven days a week, year-round, subject to availability. Flights take place between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

How Long Is It hide

The Discovery Helicopter Flight Lessons include approximately 10 to 15 minutes of ground instruction and have a flight time of approximately 20 minutes, for a total duration of 1 hour.

Weather hide

The Helicopter Flight lessons may be rescheduled by the pilot due to inclement weather conditions.

What To Wear hide

Dress comfortably, layers and flat rubber-soled athletic shoes are recommended for this aerial adventure. Shirt and shoes are required.

Additional Information hide

Flights take place in a Robinson R22. Participation is limited to individuals weighing between 100 to 220lbs and are between 5' and 6'2" tall. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions, which are considered unsafe conditions, are not eligible to participate.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form.
