Discover the thrill of flying an airplane during this exciting hands-on Introductory Flying Lesson over Salinas, CA! After you meet your Certified Flight Instructor at the Salinas Municipal Airport, you will climb into a Cessna 172. This exciting sixty minute experience will take you soaring as your Certified Flight Instructor provides one-on-one introductory aviation training. Plus, you may even bring a guest to join you!

During this Discovery Flight Lesson, you will soar 3,000 feet over the beautiful California coast in a light aircraft. Before the fun begins, you will receive a briefing from your Flight Instructor on the techniques and safety aspects of the Cessna. Following the briefing, you will hop into the co-pilot's seat and prepare for takeoff. The Pilot will taxi down the runway, but once airborne you will take over the controls and learn to fly the plane!

So whether you are looking to begin a new hobby or you are simply interested in discovering what it's like to be a Pilot, this experience will have you soaring to new heights and makes a unique gift for any occasion!

The Salinas Flight Lessons are offered seven days a week year round, subject to availability. Flights may be scheduled between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

How Long Is It

The Discovery Flight Lesson includes 20 to 30 minutes of ground instruction followed by a 60 minute flight and has a total duration of approximately 1½ hours, unless an Extended Flight Option is selected.

Weather

The Introductory Flight Lessons may be rescheduled due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather. If the flight is cancelled by the Pilot, it may be rescheduled for a mutually convenient alternative date.

What To Wear

Comfortable clothing and rubber soled shoes are recommended for this experience.

Flight time logged can count towards training in the future should the participant pursue their Pilot’s Licence.

Participation is limited to individuals weighing less than 300lbs. The combined weight limit for you and your guest is 500lbs. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate.

All pilots are Certified Flight Instructors.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the form prior to participation.

Flight lesson

This was a Christmas gift for our 15 year old son, Brendan. He has talked about being a pilot and flying since he was 4 years old. The experience was great! The instructor, Chris, was excellent and put our son at ease immediately. We opted for the extended flying time and also for another person to take the flight along with our son. Brendan did all the flying with the exception of taking off and landing the plane. Great experience and recommend to others.

Flight Lesson

This experience was absolutely amazing, our flight instructor was very patient and willing to explain everything. She allowed us to fly and see where we wanted. The entire flight was only about 30 minutes when the description said one whole hour of flight. But the experience was great all the same. My fiance and I were so happy when we landed that we completely forgot to tip our guide and we feel horrible about it. I want to thank aerodynamics and our guide for a wonderful experience.

Question: My Dad loves aviation. I would like to buy this flying lesson for him for Father's Day but he's 85 years old. Is he too old to take the flight lesson?

Answer: No, as long as he is in good health and able to climb stairs then he may enjoy the flight lesson. In general, participation is open to anyone over 14 years of age weighing less than 300lbs. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are unfortunately not eligible to participate.
Question: I would like to buy this for my husband. How long will he actually get to fly the plane?

Answer: The Discovery Flight Lesson includes 20 to 30 minutes of ground instruction followed by a 60 minute flight and has a total duration of approximately 1½ hours, unless an Extended Flight Option is selected. Please keep in mind that flight time is defined by the FAA as chocks-away to chocks-under, which includes taxi time plus airborne time, i.e. wheels-off to wheels-on. Except for the take off and landing your husband will be able to take over the flight controls as much or as little as he is comfortable with. There is also and option to add additional flight time from the options menu above the 'Add to Cart' button.
Question: If I buy this gift certificate for my boyfriend, can I ride along as a passenger when he takes the lesson?

Answer: Yes, you may ride along as a passenger in the plane during this Intro Flight Lesson. However, the maximum combined weight of both passengers may not exceed 500lbs.

Answer: No, being a U.S. citizen is not a requirement for this Introductory Flight Lesson.
Question: I am looking to purchase this experience for my partner. I read that certain health conditions may exclude you from being able to participate. My partner only has one arm, is this a condition that would prevent him from being able to participate in this experience.

Answer: They may still participate in the flying lesson. The plane has duel controls, therefore the Certified Flight Instructor can assist with the piloting of the plane if and when necessary.
