The Surfing Lesson in North Carolina are offered seven days a week May thru October, subject to availability. Lessons are typically scheduled between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

How Long Is The North Carolina Surfing Lesson

The North Carolina Surf Lessons include 45 minutes of instruction on the beach 1¼ hours of instruction in the water with a total of lesson lenght of 2 hours.

Does Weather Impact Surf Lesson Experiences

The North Carolina Private Surf Lesson may be rescheduled by the Instructor due to severe weather such as high winds or heavy rain.

What to Wear for Surf Lesson Experiences

Dress comfortably, swimwear and layers. Beach towels, sunscreen and a change of clothes are also recommended. Participants will be provided with all necessary equipment.

What To Know Before You Go

Wetsuits, rash-guards and surfboards are all provided for the lesson. If you have your own surfboard or other equipment, you are welcome to use it.

Participants must be over the age of 6 for individual private surf lessons. Semi-private surf lessons for two require both participants to be 11 years of age and older. All participants must be able to swim with their head above water and must be able to swim to shore. Younger participants and weak swimmers will be kept in shallow waters.

Participants are advised to be well rested and should avoid drinking alcohol the evening prior to their lesson. All Instructors are experienced surfers and have been surfing for over 10 years. They are all certified in CPR and First Aid, and some are also ocean lifeguards. Instructors are with the students at all times.

Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe are not eligible to participate.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form. Participants under the age of 18 require written consent by a parent or legal guardian on the day of the lesson.

Question: I got this certificate for my birthday but I've taken a lesson before. Can we skip the land portion and head right to the water?

Answer: Discuss it with your instructor. This is a private surf lesson so if he or she determines that you don't need the "ground school" you can start off in the water.
