The San Francisco GoCar Adventure is offered seven days a week year-round, subject to availability. Adventures can be scheduled from 9:00 AM thru 6:00 PM.

How Long Is The San Francisco GoCar Adventure

The Northern California GoCar Adventure is 1 hour and has a total duration of approximately 1½ hours, unless an Extended Tour option is added.

Does Weather Impact City Tour Experiences

The SF City GoCar Adventure Tour may be rescheduled due to heavy rain or other inclement weather.

What to Wear for City Tour Experiences

Dress comfortably, flat, non-marking rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this open-car adventure.

What To Know Before You Go

GoCars were nominated by Time Magazine as "one of the most amazing inventions of the year". They can be driven up 35 MPH and are powered by a gas engine that gets 60+ MPG.

Drivers must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Driver's License. Passengers must be at least 5 years old. Limited Liability Insurance is available and can be purchased by the participant on the day of the experience for per GoCar. Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form.

Participants will need to present a major credit card for a $500 refundable security deposit. An imprint of the renter's credit card, along with a completed and signed rental agreement and liability waiver are required prior to the release of the vehicle.

Bumpy fun

They are fun, but not comfortable for tall people over 6 feet. Bring seat cushion to buffer bumpy ride. Ride down Lombard was fun. Enjoyed the bumpy ride. Be careful to stay on path to hear narratives of areas.

More fun than we thought

Great fun, something we would do again. Need the bigger engine for anything except the 1 hour tour to the bridge. Our adventure was a gift and a great taster. We would reckoned to visitors.

San Francisco Go Car Adventure

This was a very fun tour and the GPS and narration was totally coordinated with where we were. The tour gave several options along the way of different ways to turn to do different tours or return to the Start. The only negative was that they could have made the narration a bit more interesting in terms of stories that make history come alive, a little sense of humor, or something along that line. But I would definitely recommend this tour for both locals and tourists.

Go Cars!

We had a TERRIFIC time touring in the Go Car! We are Bay Area residents, so have seen a lot of SF :-), but the Go Car took us on routes that we had never been on. In essence seeing the City from a different vantage point. Because the Go Car can only go up to 30 (and really 15-20 going up an incline/small hill) the Car cleverly navigates around the City on many perimeter streets, to get you to all of the sights you want to see, GG Bridge, Chrissy Field, GG Park, Haight Ashbury, Richmond District, many Forts, several Beaches (we'd never even heard of East Beach...gorgeous). We paid for 3 hours, but we had the PERFECT Nov. day so we kept the car for 4 hours at a nominal add'l fee. The only drawback, if sound bothers you, and not sure if this was just our car or all, when throttle (basically built on motorcycle) at full speed (most of the time) the sound is VERY loud...almost like a car without a muffler. You get used to it..but the pedestrians (like in Sea Cliff where it is quiet) don't! But they all still smile and wave. Check to see if all cars loud or not. But take this tour...you will LOVE it! We are planning to go again.

We have an absolutely FANTASTIC time today! I surprised my husband on our anniversary with this awesome gift. My husband is from the Bay Area and he saw lots of site that he'd never seen before. The cars go about 30 mph and is fitted with a talking GPS system that also serves as your tour guide. We did veer off the wrong way (due to construction issues) but the map we were given got us back on track. I paid for 2 1/2 hours and didn't realized that we were gone for 3 1/2 hours we paid an extra $28.00 for that. The car doesn't go in reverse, so you'll have to push it. And be careful of going up some hills. The GoCar can't go up all of them, but if you stick with the GPS tour, you'll be fine.

Question: Can a toddler join in on this or is there no back seat for a car seat?

Answer: There is no legal age requirement for passengers. They should be able to sit upright, wear a helmet that is provided (small size) and also wear the lapbelt. The GoCar does not have a back seat. There are two seats side by side.
Question: My boyfriend bought us the San Francisco Tour for my birthday. Can we take the GoCar over the Golden Gate Bridge?

Answer: No. California classifies the GoCar the same way they do a scooter. You cannot drive on any freeways or roads where the speed limit is over 45 miles per hour.

Answer: 2 people.

Answer: You can drive a GoCAR in California with any foreign driver’s license.
