See Washington D.C.’s most popular monuments and memorials from a different perspective—from behind the lens—as architectural photographer, E. David Luria gives hands on tips in basic architectural photography, outdoor photography, and interior photography without flash or tripod.

During this half-day photo tour, Luria will guide you through historic buildings such as: the White House, Lafayette Park, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, the Albert Einstein, Lincoln, Korea, Vietnam, and Vietnam Women’s Memorials, and to Union Station. Not only will you have an opportunity to learn all about these sites, but you will also learn to take professional photographs of too. This is a picture perfect experience!

There is no doubt that by the end of this unique photography adventure, your photography skills will be exposed through your beautiful pictures!

This Photo Tour of Washington D.C. is for participants at any skill level with any kind of camera, film or digital. Guests are required to bring their own cameras on this adventure. If using a film camera, guest must bring their own film. Cameras nor film will be provided for this experience.

Classes will be led by professional architectural photographer, E. David Luria. Mr. Luria's own images of Washington DC have appeared in over 100 local and national publications – including TIME, Prevention, and Washingtonian Magazines – on 30 magazine covers, and on 80 postcards guidebooks, calendars and tourist publications sold throughout the area. You can also find 25 of his images in a recently published full-color coffee-table book entitled "Washington DC Visions" authored by Austin Kiplinger.

My husband and I absolutely loved the DC photo tour! I got it for him as a birthday present since he loves photography and bought a really nice camera last year, and doesn't get too many chances to use it. We were really pleased with E David Luria and his DC Photo Safari. As an experienced photographer, I was worried that David would be tailoring the safari to a more beginner-focused class, but was pleasantly surprised to find out that David recognized our experience and taught us a few things in the process! I thoroughly enjoyed the 'safari' as it is called. It was a good mix between technical SLR instruction and composition techniques using the camera's capabilities. I would like it even more if another stop or two was added by reducing the time a bit at the other stops. The instructor, David, was very patient and knowledgable. No question was too basic. I'm looking for my next class to take.

The Washington Photo Safari was a good way to learn more about travel photography while visiting several good sites in DC for photographing visitors. The information is practical, but is geared toward the beginner to intermediate photographer. The instructor, David, knows all kinds of cameras and is able to help you with your specific model. It's an entertaining way to see DC through a lens and to refresh the concepts taught in photography classes.

Question: Are the Washington DC photo tours taught with digital or film cameras?

Answer: You can attend the class with either. The class is more focused on how to find the right photo and not how to use your camera. Even a point and shoot will work. If you have a digital camera you should bring and extra memory card and batteries. Bring extra film for your film camera. Neither will be provided by the tour. If you have a new camera it is recommended that you bring your manual.
Question: How much experience does one need to take this tour?

Answer: The tour caters to all levels. While their may be up to 10 people on the tour, they'll offer instruction to everyone from beginner to expert.
Question: I recently received this photo tour but am currently recovery from an ankle injury. Is there a lot of walking on the tour?

Answer: Not at all. The tour is 3 hours long but is all located in a concentrated area. It's rare that the group will travel more than a mile.
Question: Is this tour wheelchair accessible?

Answer: Yes.
Question: Is this appropriate for kids? I have a 11 and 8 year old and trying to explore some experiences we can do as a family

Answer: All ages are permitted on the tours but children must be accompanied by an adult. They are required to have their own camera and the tour requests they have real interest in photography. The recommended minimum age is 12 but younger children can take the course as long as they can pay attention for the 3 hour duration of the class and not be a distraction to the rest of the participants.
