Learn the thrilling sport of mushing during this hands-on Dog Sled Tour Experience in Massachusetts. Dog Sledding, a well-known form of Mushing, can be a competitive sport but is also a great winter outdoor recreation activity for the whole family!

Located near West Chesterfield, the excitement typically begins at the entrance of the DAR State Forest where you and your guest will meet your experienced Musher and Tour Guide in the warming hut. Once you are ready to set out on your outdoor adventure, you will head out and meet your talented team of dogs who will be pulling the sled.  Then, discover first-hand the excitement of mushing, along the way experience views of gorgeous scenery as you travel through Northern Conifer Hardwood Forests. Throughout the adventure you and your guest will each have a chance to take turns piloting the sled and riding as a passenger!

Who Is Included hide

The Hilltown Winter Dog Sled Tour Experience Gifts Certificate is valid for one participant and their guest. This is a private mush.

Participant may bring one guest; however, there is a maximum combined total weight limit of 350 lbs for participant and their guest.

When It Is Offered hide

The Dog Sledding Tours are offered seven days a week December thru March, subject to availability. Tours are typically offered in the morning and afternoon.

How Long Is It hide

This Hilltown Dog Sledding Adventures have a total duration of approximately 1½ hours.

Weather hide

The Dog Sledding Tours in Massachusetts take place in most weather conditions, but may be rescheduled by the Guide due to lack of snow or other poor weather conditions.

What To Wear hide

Dress comfortably in warm, waterproof layers. Snow jackets, pants, hats, gloves and boots are recommended. Water or a hot beverage in a thermos is recommended as well.

Additional Information hide

Along with a 20 to 30 minute Dog Sled Ride, this adventure includes meeting the dogs, petting, snacking, helping harness and/or lining up and releasing the dogs.

The maximum combined weight for all participants must be less than 350 lbs. Participants can use the warming hut equipped with materials to build a fire. There is a port a potty at the meeting location. Participants should bring a bottle of water or hot thermos drink for the tour.

Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate. Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the form prior to participation.

Gratuities for your tour guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.
