Grab your camera and head out to Long Wharf where you will board a high-speed catamaran and head out to Stellwagen Bank on the search for whales! You are in for an educational adventure during this three-hour experience gift.

The fun begins when you board the ship. You will be greeted by the friendly Crew who will make you feel at home and answer any questions you may have about the trip. The on-board Naturalists from the New England Aquarium will also share their knowledge about the behaviors, conservation status, scientific tracking and more of whales, dolphins, sea birds and other marine life throughout the cruise. Once you arrive at the Sanctuary, a rich feeding ground for whales, dolphins and sea birds, the hunt is on! You will have the opportunity to spot several varieties of large whales including humpbacks, minkes finbacks, Pilot Whales and possibly even the critically endangered Right Whales.

The Boston Whale Watching Cruises are offered April to November, subject to availability. Sails typically depart at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 2:30 PM.

How Long Is It

The New England Aquarium Whale Watching Trips typically have a cruise length of 3 hours and a total duration of approximately 3½ hours.

The location of the whales may require more travel time, extending the trip beyond the scheduled three hours. Please allow for additional time in your schedule.

Weather

The Whale Watching Tours may be rescheduled by the Captain due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably, flat, non-marking rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this open water adventure.

Price includes all taxes, however gratuity is not included and can be extended to your Captain and Crew following your adventure.

Your experience will take place on a catamaran which feature 3 outside decks for optimum whale watching. Inside you'll find climate-controlled cabin space with cushioned seating, free WIFI, tables, state-of-the-art sound and video systems, and a galley offering food and beverages for purchase. Beverages and snacks are available on the boat from the snack bar but are not included in the price of the cruise. Please Note that at sea, credit/debit card transactions are sometimes not possible, so it’s a good idea to have cash in hand.

Children under the age of 3 or expecting mothers are not eligible to participate in this experience.

Whale sightings are guaranteed, so if there are no whales spotted on your trip, you'll receive a free ticket for a future cruise from Boston Harbor Cruises.
