Watch the Manhattan Skyline drift by as you sail aboard the beautiful Schooner Adirondack or Adirondack III. Departing from Chelsea Piers on the Hudson River, this beautiful two hour sail in New York Harbor will treat you to a sightseeing adventure. 

The adventure begins when you board the 80-foot wooden replica of a classic turn of the century Pilot Schooner. You will be greeted by the friendly Captain and Crew, and once everyone has found their seats, the Captain will navigate the boat south down the Hudson to Battery Park providing you with amazing views of Manhattan. During your sail, you will pass by Ellis Island as you make your way to the Statue of Liberty. Wind and time permitting, you will also sail towards Governors Island and breeze by the Financial District as the Schooner teases her bow under the Brooklyn Bridge on the East River before heading back up the Hudson River.

Who Is Included hide

The Schooner Sailing In New York Experience Gifts Certificate is valid for one participant, unless additional participants are added onto the certificate. There will be up to 40 additional participants on the sail.

This experience is not suitable for non-paying guests.

When It Is Offered hide

The NYC Schooner Sailing Trips are offered up to seven days a week from April thru October, subject to availability. Sails typically depart at 3:30 PM on Weekdays and 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM on Weekends. There is an evening City Lights Tour available on Thursdays and Saturdays, which typically departs at 8:30 PM.

How Long Is It hide

The New York Harbor Schooner Sails have a sail length of 2 hours and a total duration of approximately 2½ hours.

Weather hide

The New York Sail Trips take place in all weather conditions, but may be rescheduled by the Captain due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What To Wear hide

Dress comfortably, flat, non-marking rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this sailing adventure.

Additional Information hide

The fastest resident sail vessels in the New York Harbor are the Schooners Adirondack and Adirondack III. They held the record finishes in the Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race for 14 consecutive seasons (1994 - 2007). Though they are light and lively sailing vessels, they are also quite comfortable, with ample deck space and seating for up to 49. They are operated by Coast Guard certified captains and extremely friendly and talented crew.

Complimentary beer, soda, and water will be provided on day sails. Several rounds of drinks will be served, but this is not an unlimited booze-cruise. Additional beverages will be available for purchase from the cash bar. The aim is to create an elegant, relaxing, peaceful, and safe experience for all guests. Food is not served during the sail, but passengers are welcome to bring snacks on board.

Smoking and outside drinks are not permitted on board the Schooner. Complimentary ponchos will be provided if it begins to rain. The Schooner is not Wheelchair accessible.

Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on evening Sails.

Gratuity for the Captain and Crew is not included and is appreciated at the end of the cruise
