Enjoy an unforgettable Hot Air Balloon Flight over beautiful Upstate New York. Departing from Glens Falls, New York, this incredible balloon ride begins with the inflation of the balloon an hour before sunrise or two hours before sunset. Once the balloon is almost ready for takeoff, you will climb into the basket as the pilot heats the air inside the balloon’s envelope until it becomes "lighter than air".

As the balloon rises you will begin a peaceful journey over picturesque Upstate New York and enjoy unique bird’s eye views of New York which are truly unforgettable! During this Glens Falls Hot Air Balloon Fight, you will move in tandem with the winds for approximately one hour, having ample time to relax as you drift over the sensational scenery.

After approximately 45 to 60 minutes the balloon will begin to descend and the Pilot will prepare for landing where the balloon flight’s chase crew will meet you and help you celebrate this exciting airborne voyage with a traditional Champagne toast. The Albany Hot Air Balloon Flights are offered March thru October, subject to availability. Flights take place at Sunrise and Sunset. Sunrise and Sunset times will vary depending on the time of year the flight is scheduled.

The Balloon Rides Over Albany have an approximate flight time of 45 to 60 minutes and a total duration of 3 hours.

Weather

The Hot Air Balloon Rides Over Albany may be rescheduled by the Pilot due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably, flat rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this open air adventure.

Participation in the Hot Air Balloon Experience is limited to individuals weighing less than 220lbs, between 4' and 6'5" tall and at least 8 years of age

Participants must be able to stand for a minimum of 90 minutes. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight.

Question: How does the pilot steer the balloon?

Answer: The pilot and balloon are reliant on the wind. Luckily the wind changes directions at different altitudes. By ascending and descending the pilot can change the direction you're traveling. Of course this isn't an exact science and you never know for sure where you are going to land.
Question: I would like to take my daughter on a balloon ride. Is it much colder in the air?

Answer: If you tend to get cold you may want to bring an extra layer along with you. But the temperature in the balloon is going to be about the same as it is on the ground. The temperature only changes about 3 degrees for every thousand feet of elevation gain and that temperature change is off set by the burners. And, since the balloon travels with the wind, there is almost no wind chill. One recommendation....most 'balloonatics' prefer to wear a hat to shield themselves from the heat given off by the burner.
Question: Does the Albany Hot Air Balloon Ride ever offer mid-day flights?

Answer: No. Balloons fly freely at dawn and dusk when the winds are the lightest.
Question: What happens if my scheduled flight is cancelled for bad weather?

Answer: If the pilot cancels your flight for bad weather you will be rescheduled directly by the balloon company.
Question: I'd like to surprise my wife with a hot air balloon ride for her birthday. How many other people will there be in the balloon with us?

Answer: The gondola used for the Hot Air Balloon Experience in Albany holds 6 passengers.
Question: I'd like to propose to my girlfriend on a Hot Air Balloon ride and would like to surprise her with a "Will You Marry Me?" sign I lay out the night before. Will I be able to request that we fly in a certain direction so we fly over the sign?

Answer: Unfortunately whichever way the wind is blowing on the day of your flight is the direction you'll be traveling. The pilot cannot accommodate specific route requests.
Question: Do they have any balloon baskets that are wheelchair accessible?

Answer: The Hot Air Balloons are not handicapped accessible. All participants must be able to climb in and out of the 4 foot high basket. They also can't be sure where you are going to land and some cases you may have to walk a ways over rocky terrain to get back to the chase vehicle.
